Fusion CAC | Computer-Assisted Coding

Fusion CAC™ is a new, computer-assisted coding solution that utilizes natural language processing (NLP) and exclusive patented algorithmic software to electronically analyze entire medical charts to pre-code with both CPT procedure and ICD9 diagnostic nomenclatures. Manual coders, enhanced with the results of Fusion CAC™, easily approve or amend the automatic results to reduce effort by as much as 80%. This reduced effort translates directly to a reduction in the time between discharge and revenue capture while also translating into cost savings from outsourcing.

The Fusion CAC™ solution utilizes the powerful and fast coding engine, EMscribe™, which has been designed to integrate with a hospital’s existing coding system.

Fusion CAC™ can increase your coder’s performance reducing the time to code charts. This time savings can have a direct impact on your revenue cycle by decreasing your discharged but not final billed backlog and with other potential savings by eliminating dependency on outsourcing, reducing human coding errors and automating Present On Admission (POA) reporting.

Inpatient and Outpatient

Both inpatient and outpatient charts can be pre-coded with ICD9 and CPT codes. This process does not replace the human coder; they will verify or edit the codes suggested by Fusion CAC™. This decreases a coder’s time per chart while reducing the human coder variability, common in the medical coding practice. Once the verification process is complete, Fusion integrates with your existing coding system to complete the process.

A Digital Coding Solution

Fusion CAC™ integrates with your document management and clinical systems creating a digital workplace for on-site and off-site coders. Once the chart coding event is completed, the entire chart is saved within Fusion CAC™ and is now searchable. Every resulting ICD9 or CPT code, rendered by the system, is hyperlinked and cross-referenced back to the reports, keywords and phrases providing the supporting documentation. This exclusive functionality saves time and complexity during internal or external coding audits.
